Explore the deep sea through Dynamic Earth's brand-new gallery, opening April 2022.
Meet Scotland's pioneers of marine science, including Edinburgh's own Charles Wyville Thomson, whose exploration of Scotland's marine environments in the 19th century launched the modern science of oceanography. Dive into the depths of the sea and witness the incredible habitats and denizens of the deep, including Scotland’s very own cold-water coral reefs. When you resurface you can meet the scientists of today and explore the equipment they use to understand and explore this massive environment, so deeply connected to the health and wellbeing of us all.
This exhibition is part of Dynamic Earth’s Discovering the Deep project that has received funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Presented in partnership with Dynamic Earth
