Alastair Ross, the reigning World Haggis Eating Champion, put away 5 portions - which is more than 2kg of steak – during a visit to Innis & Gunn’s Edinburgh taproom.
It is all part of Innis & Gunn mockumentary series, starring comedian Paul Dockery. In the hilarious new episode, Paul enlisted Alastair to put the generous offer to the test.
Now, after facing the ultimate challenge, the brewer is challenging Scots to see if they can match the Pertshire-based butcher who shot to fame when he scoffed a whole haggis in under one minute last year.
The unlimited steak frites offer is available on Palentine’s Day, 13th February, across all three Innis & Gunn taprooms – meaning you can bring along a mate to indulge with.
For £19.95, diners can enjoy a sampler of Innis & Gunn Original, followed by 35-day dry-aged Scottish steak with unlimited garlic butter house frites and the brewery’s signature Original steak sauce.
For one day only, it’s not just the chips that are bottomless. This Palentine’s Day, diners can enjoy unlimited steak as well, if they're up for the challenge.
For those coupled up, a Valentine’s treat will be available the following day: a free glass of prosecco or a pint with any steak frites booking.
Alastair Ross, a seven-time World Haggis Eating Champion at the Birnam Highland Games, said: “When Innis & Gunn challenged me with putting the unlimited deal to the test, I was chuffed. For me, there’s nothing better than devouring plate after plate of steak and chips.
“I’d love to see how many challengers are willing to take me on. If anyone manages to beat my record, it’s an excuse for me to come back and reclaim my title.”
Dougal Sharp, founder of Innis & Gunn, commented: “Quality beer and Scottish steak are a match made in heaven, which is why they’ve become a firm favourite on our taproom menus.
“There’s nothing better than being in the pub with your mates, and with Palentine’s around the corner, what better way to celebrate friendship than with endless steak and beer?
“We were delighted to welcome Alastair Ross into our taproom to put our limitless deal to the test, and we’re sure that our bottomless offering will be the perfect way to mark the occasion.”
The latest episode of the Innis & Gunn mockumentary is now available to watch on the brewery’s social channels, where viewers can find out if there really is a limit on ‘unlimited’.
Reckon you can take on the challenge? Book now at www.innisandgunn.com/taprooms/unlimited-steak-frites and head down to Innis & Gunn’s Lothian Road, Ashton Lane, and Nile Street taprooms on 13 February to find out.
