LONDON, 9 September 2024
These awards celebrate excellence in the tourism industry by recognising exceptional museums, attractions and experiences in six vibrant countries, including the UK, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal. In the Netherlands, nominees include ARTIS, Fabrique des Lumières and AMAZE Amsterdam. The public can now vote for their favourites in the various categories. The winners in each category will be announced on 22nd October 2024. One of these winners will eventually be named Remarkable Venue of the Year.
The RVAs were created by Tiqets in 2017 to award venues that offer exceptional experiences and outstanding service to visitors. This year, the awards take a local approach, focusing on excellence within specific countries. The categories for the 2024 awards are:
• Best Museum - recognises the best rated museums and art galleries
Nominated: Frameless, The Beatles Story, Titanic Belfast and National Gallery
• Best Family Experience - recognises the best rated zoos, aquariums, amusement parks, theme parks and water parks suitable for families
Nominated: London Transport Museum, London Zoo, The Gruffalo & Friends Clubhouse and Warner Bros. Studio Evan Evans Tour
• Best Landmark - recognises the best rated cathedrals, churches, castles, palaces, historic or iconic monuments
Nominated: Kew Gardens, Anfield Stadium, Windsor Castle, Tower of London
• Best Activity - recognises locations offering the best tours & sightseeing, canal cruises, entertainment, culinary experiences, attractions and activities.
Nominated: The Lion King, Abba Voyage, Hop On, Hop Off Edinburgh (Loathian Busses) and London Eye River Cruise (London Eye – Merlin)
• Best 'Hidden Gem' - recognises the unique or niche attractions that may be off the beaten track, but always amaze their visitors
Nominated: Lift 109, Ghostly Underground (Mercat Tours), Apsley House, Game of Thrones Studio Tour
Public voting process:
This year's local events aim to highlight regional excellence and foster a sense of community among tourism industry leaders. Nominees have been selected based on feedback from more than 2 million customer reviews, making the awards reflect the real experiences of visitors. Winners in each category will be determined through a public voting process, culminating in a grand ceremony on 22 October at the London Transport Museum. The winners in each category will then compete for the prestigious title of most outstanding venue (Remarke Venue) in their country, an honour awarded by a Tiqets internal panel.
Laurens Leurink, CEO of Tiqets, commented, "Tiqets is proud to host the Remarkable Venue Awards, our annual celebration recognising the best venues and activities in the industry. This year, we are excited to take this to a local level, honouring top performers in each of our local markets. These events not only provide a wonderful opportunity to recognise excellence, but also strengthen our relationships with valued suppliers. We encourage everyone to support their favourite nominees by voting."
