As Six by Nico Edinburgh West opens its doors this week to a brand-new Edinburgh venue, the pioneering restaurant that serves six specifically themed dishes is taking a trip down memory lane, launching with its iconic menu 'The Chippie'.
Situated on Queensferry Street, the new restaurant is the second site in the city that food enthusiasts can visit to treat themselves to a tasty yet affordable menu, priced at £42pp for the six courses and £33pp for authentic wine pairings.
The interior concept at Six by Nico Edinburgh West is earthy and inviting with a high energy impact that coincides with the exciting food offering. The design roots for the interior concept are inspired by the number SIX, and designers Studio Two developed ideas for Six by Nico by using the six-legged dragonfly as its muse, honing in on characteristics of the insect's body form, colour, and natural habitat.
As the brand continues to develop across multiple venues and UK and Ireland locations, the sites reflect a harmonious design style with brand DNA elements, whilst maintaining individuality inspired by locational concepts. The inspiration for Edinburgh West was derived from its volcanic rock formations that structure Edinburgh City today, and have inspired materials such as natural stones and heavy layered textures however complimented by softer elements of green that have been concept driven by the Royal Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh.
The origin of The Chippie stems from the Glasgow chip shop that was owned by Nico Simeone’s grandparents and provides a delightfully creative chip shop inspired six courses consisting of Chips & Cheese, Scampi, Steak Pie, Fish Supper, Smoked Sausage, and to pay homage to Scotland, a Deep-Fried Mars Bar.
Speaking on the arrival of the second Edinburgh venue, founder, CEO and chef, Nico Simeone, said:
“We've been lucky to call Edinburgh part of our Six by Nico community since 2018, and we're really excited to be opening a second restaurant, right in the heart. The existing venue was the only second location for the group and so, Edinburgh will always have a place in our hearts. The community and support we have had here has been amazing. We hope this affords people the chance to experience Six by Nico. The Chippie first appeared back in 2017, so it’s great to be bringing back our much-loved debut menu consisting of the crowd favourite Irn Bru sorbet. We look forward to welcoming guests both new and regulars from today who we have come to know.”
The menu theme shifts every six weeks, which makes it difficult for customers to get bored of the dishes on offer and creates a sense of mystery and excitement as to what the next menu will be.
Customers can immerse themselves in an atmospheric combination of experiential dining and elegant surroundings when the Edinburgh West venue doors open for customers from today.
The Chippie will be available until 11th August at the Queensferry venue. Edinburgh Hanover will be cooking Amalfi Coast from 1st July - 11th August.
