This Fringe festival forecast is the Scottish summer special: rain. Luckily, the Students’ Association is hosting a variety of dynamic festival spaces where you can escape the weather (and grab a bite to eat!).
Teviot Row House is a great place to stop, home to one of the city’s oldest bars, The Library Bar, which serves a varied menu both day and night. It also hosts Gilded Balloon who has a packed performance schedule. Grab a bite between shows while enjoying the impressive architecture of the world’s oldest student union building.
The Garden at Teviot, next to Teviot Row House and Charles Street Lane (lined with beloved local food vendors including Mac Love, Screaming Peacock and Crema Caravan) offers colourful, covered beach huts (seating 6), two full-service bars, coffee from Edinburgh’s Throat Punch and delicious local produce from Ròst Eats.
Pleasance Courtyard will be packed with city favourite bars and food vendors Pizza Geeks, Harajuku Kitchen, Smash & Stack and Mimi’s Bakehouse. The bustling area is a great spot to enjoy the festival come rain or shine, sitting under a canopy of umbrellas and stretch tents in the traditional cobbled courtyards.
A broad selection of drinks will be available across the venues, with Molson Coors products featuring in all locations. Coors, Prahva, Carling, Staropramen, Guinness, Rekorderlig ciders, Johnnie Walker, Gordon’s Gin, Fever Tree softs and more will also be available. There will also be a selection of cocktails on draught so guests won’t have to wait long to be served and can even grab a cocktail in a can whilst queuing for performances.
The best bit? You can enjoy all the Students’ Assocation has to offer while helping Edinburgh’s student community. Edinburgh University Students' Association is a registered charity, providing services, representation and welfare support at the University of Edinburgh for over 49,000 members. Profits from its Fringe venues and outlets go towards these services, helping enhance students’ experiences during their time at university.
“One of my favourite things about Edinburgh is that we get to deliver the most amazing and vibrant cultural festival, Fringe! Our Association’s integral part in the festival means we can generate funds to support our students. We hope everyone who visits enjoys the city and has a great time visiting our venues!” Sharan Atwal, Students’ Association President.
