BARBIE TICKETS GO ON SALE TODAY AND CUSTOMERS WHO BRING ALONG A REAL-LIFE KEN ON THE OPENING WEEKEND ARE IN FOR A TREAT
Tickets to see Barbie’s live-action debut in the eponymously titled film are available to book at Vue today (21 June).
Directed by Greta Gerwig (Ladybird, Little Women) and starring Margot Robbie in the titular role, the film follows Barbie as she is exiled from Barbieland because of her imperfections. But when her home world is in peril, Barbie returns with the knowledge that what makes her different also makes her stronger.
To coincide with the hotly anticipated release, any Barbie fan that brings a real-life Ken along with them to Vue during the Barbie opening weekend (21 – 23 June) will receive either a free regular Tango Ice Blast or popcorn.
An appropriate gift, given Vue is launching a limited-edition Tango Ice Blast flavour, inspired by the iconic character on 21 July. Those wishing to claim one simply need to bring a companion with valid ID stating a name beginning with ‘Ken.’
The ‘Barbie Tang Ice Blast’ limited edition drink will be candyfloss flavoured, boasting a baby pink colour that mimics the character’s favourite colour. The new flavour of this much-loved frozen drink will be available exclusively at Vue sites throughout the UK.
As well as that, Vue is offering the chance to win a ‘Dream Screening’ where the winner can watch a film of their choice (as agreed with Vue) with up to 19 other guests.
To be in with a chance of winning, fans must create a ‘Barbie Dream Screen’ Instagram Story on their account, utilising the exclusive background and GIF stickers created by Vue for the release of Barbie, which include pink cinema seats and a candy floss machine.
The competition will be live for a week from today (21 June) and contenders must tag @Vue within their Barbie Dream Screen Instagram Story to be in with a shot. As well as a private screening, each guest will be entitled to a complimentary drink of their choice.
Robert Lea, Head of Screen Content at Vue Entertainment, said: “As one of the most recognisable female characters in the world, we’re hugely excited to see Barbie make her big screen debut.
“That’s why we’re giving fans the opportunity to get into the spirit of Barbie with not one but three special promotions in the run up to the film’s release. Whether it’s building your own Dream Screen, bringing your own Ken along or sampling a Barbie-inspired Tang Ice Blast, we want fans to enjoy Barbie the way it should be seen – on the big screen.”
