Edinburgh sports venues kick off a summer of sport with an amazing prize up for grabs

With the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 kicking-off in just a few weeks, two Edinburgh sports venues are hoping to start the celebrations early and are on the look-out for two Female Footie Stars of the Future.

World of Football at Chesser and World of Football at Marine Drive are giving girls across the Scottish capital the chance to enter a fantastic new competition. The winners of the competition will enjoy full access to their world-class indoor and outdoor five-a-side football pitches to practice their skills and play with nine of their pals all summer long, absolutely free of charge.

The competition is the brainchild of World of Football owner, Paul DeMarco, who is passionate about promoting the sport and nurturing young talent. He hopes this competition will help to shine a spotlight on the promising players of tomorrow. Speaking ahead of the competition launch, DeMarco said;

“Historically, boys have dominated football but it’s great to see more girls now getting involved. Girls can absolutely excel in this sport, which we’ll see at the upcoming World Cup. We want to encourage even more girls to have a go, so we’re trying to do our bit to help and support the budding female players of the future in Scotland by offering two football fans the chance to play with their friends every week of the summer holidays so they can perfect their game.”

To enter the competition, adults should head to www.worldoffootball.com/future-star and nominate their Female Footie Star of the Future who must be aged 5-16. Entries are open now and close on Friday 30th June 2023 when two names will be selected at random. The winning Female Footie Stars of the Future can enjoy five-a-side pitch hire with nine of their friends once a week for a total of seven weeks throughout the entire school holidays, redeemable up until Friday 1st September 2023.
