Led by Edinburgh-born skipper, Bruce Mouat, ‘Team Mouat’ will be kick-starting a nationwide campaign at the show to promote the sport in association with the country’s only Scotch malt whisky cream liqueur brand, Magnum.
The team of four men from Edinburgh, Stranraer and Dumfries, clinched the world title in Ottawa earlier this year after defeating their Canadian hosts. Team Mouat also took home the silver medal at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.
Since winning the world title, Team Mouat has already been snapped up by Magnum as the official faces of the brand for 2023.
Team Mouat is now raising a glass to its continued success having scored a new UK-wide deal with Magnum. As part of the campaign, Team Mouat will be meeting fans, providing photo opportunities and autographing bottles of Magnum on stand number SL A3 in the ‘Scotland’s Larder’ area at the Royal Highland Show between 1pm and 3pm on Thursday 22nd June.
Magnum, which is crafted and bottled in Edinburgh, is now sponsoring Team Mouat’s official match kit this year.
Commenting on Team Mouat’s new partnership with Magnum and debut appearance at this year’s Royal Highland Show, Edinburgh-born skipper, Bruce Mouat, said:
“The Royal Highland Show is one of the biggest and best celebrations of farming, food, and rural life in Scotland. It’s a great way for people from all across the country to gather and join our world victory parade with Magnum. We look forward to meeting our fans on the day and sharing our passion for curling.
“We’re really excited to be hitting the road with Magnum as part of its new nationwide campaign for 2023. As well as promoting Magnum, we’ll be helping to raise the profile of curling across the country.
“We travel to Canada for four or five months of the year, so we get to share the love for our sport, and we get to promote Scotland’s only Scotch cream liqueur brand. Lots of people come up to us and tell us how much they love the drink. We love to hear from the fans of curling, as well as the fans of Magnum.”
Magnum’s provenance and credentials allowed the brand to gain market momentum and secure its position as the only scotch malt whisky cream liqueur available in Canada in under a year.
Since its launch in Canada in 2018, Magnum has quickly established itself in over 350 outlets across the country, including the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta.
Ontario is one of the world’s largest cream liqueur markets and has a significant Scots influence, with around 18 per cent of Ontarians claiming Scots heritage.
Magnum is a fusion of single malt Scotch whisky and cream. Its superior ingredients and contemporary design set it apart from traditional liqueurs. It is contained in a unique, stainless steel flask, which is designed to be reusable and recyclable. It also keeps the liqueur chilled at the optimum temperature, without the need for ice.
Edinburgh-based Hemisphere Brands is the global brand agent for Magnum and manages the brand from production planning through to the strategy for market entry, as well as executing the sales, marketing and distribution plan.
Lee Schofield, Director for Magnum, said:
“We share a passion for curling, single malt Scotch whisky and cream liqueurs, so we jumped at the chance to bring them with together with Team Mouat at this year’s Royal Highland Show.
“As Scotland’s curling world champions, we know Team Mouat are the perfect ambassadors to represent the Magnum brand and curling across Scotland, the rest of the UK, Canada and the US, our core markets.”
Magnum will be sampling every day at The Royal Highland Show (22 nd -25 th June) between 10am and 7pm.
