Superico at 83 Hanover Street has teamed up with new drinks brand, Twenty, to lead the way in offering customers a refreshing lower alcohol, mid-proof alternative and help transform the way people think about social drinking with tasty sharing menus and long, lazy Sunday brunches with friends and family.

Created by Edinburgh-born bartender and former brand ambassador, Grant Neave, Twenty is a juniper-infused distilled light spirit drink with a hint of citrus, but only 20% ABV or half the unit of alcohol compared to standard 40% ABV spirits. It also has fewer calories than higher standard spirits.

With many people cutting down or cutting out alcohol completely, Twenty has been crafted with a modern mindset, embracing the traditional techniques of distillation whilst pushing the boundaries to achieve a light spirit for the modern consumer.

Launching in time for this summer’s social calendar, Twenty looks set to offer a fresh option for those looking to enjoy time with friends and family by halving the units without compromising on the quality, flavour and craftsmanship that goes into traditional spirits.

Twenty is distilled using eight hand selected botanicals including Juniper, Grapefruit and Chestnut. Twenty’s flavour is familiar but fresh with dandelion root, milk thistle seed, chestnut, yellow grapefruit, sweet orange, orris, coriander seed and juniper coming together to give bright, citrus notes rounded by earthy pine notes and a floral perfume on the nose.

A winning combination of full flavour with the total absence of harsh alcohol burn that you get from higher ABV spirits means that Twenty can be easily experimented with in classic and contemporary cocktails, but is best served with light tonic water and a twist of lemon peel, to allow the full force of its botanicals to shine through.

Twenty creator, Grant Neave, has over 15 years industry experience. Commenting on the Scottish launch of Twenty at Superico on Edinburgh’s Hanover Street, Grant said:

“We think Superico’s new Sunday brunch experience offers the perfect setting and timing for us to launch Twenty in Scotland. Sunday brunch is all about relaxing and socialising. Twenty creates an option to enjoy the whole social experience and enjoy some delicious drinks at the same time.

“Both Superico and Twenty are all about being creative, fun and forward-looking. Both brands are modern, fresh and offer people a refreshing new way to enjoy spending time with the people they care about.

“Superico focuses on big, bold flavours in its choice of menus, but also appreciates that well-presented food and drink, knowledgeable staff and quality service enhances the overall customer experience. Twenty will be on hand to offer people a way of taking a measured approach to any social occasion, without compromising on flavour, or fun.”

Both Superico Restaurant at 83 Hanover Street and Superico Bar and Lounge at 99 Hanover Street are managed by one of Edinburgh’s most recognised hospitality faces, Mike Lynch. An award-winning mixologist, Mike specialises in drinks and menu development. He has over 12 years’ experience operating bars and restaurants in Edinburgh.

Superico Restaurant has just launched a new Sunday brunch experience to encourage people to make the most of long, lazy Sundays with family and friends in the heart of the city, including its new partnership with Twenty.

A special Twenty Light Spirit Social Brunch menu will be available on 29th May, including a choice of Twenty Light Spirit cocktails and Sunday Brunch dishes to complement each other. Cocktails include a Floradora made with raspberry, lime and ginger ale; and Grasshopper made with cacao, crème de menthe and cream. Dishes include beef cheek hash with romesco ragu, smoked cheddar and fried egg, as well as frittata with potato, egg, spinach, tomato and manchego, plus waffles with fruit salad.

Superico’s Mike Lynch, said:

“We’re really excited to be hosting the Scottish launch of Twenty at Superico Restaurant at 83 Hanover Street. I’ve known Grant Neave for 13 years and think Twenty is a great match for what we’re also trying to achieve at Superico.

“We aim to create a stylish, relaxed and informal environment for people to take their time and enjoy socialising with friends and family, so our new Sunday Brunch experience is the perfect opportunity to introduce people to the refreshing new taste of Twenty.”

Superico Restaurant at 83 Hanover Street is now open Wednesday to Friday from 3pm to 12am, Saturdays from 12pm to 12am, and for Sunday brunch between 10am and 5pm.

Superico Bar and Lounge is located just a few doors down from the restaurant at 99 Hanover Street. The 120-capacity venue is open Wednesday to Sunday from 4pm to 1am.

The 19th-century Georgian building and former banking hall is a ‘fiesta for the eyes’, having been transformed into a Chilean-inspired, sun-drenched party palace by top Edinburgh-based design studio, JA!COCO! The stylish venue now resembles a Tamara de Lempicka painting, with Art-Deco-style shapes and jewel-like colours, including turquoise and bright yellow. There’s even a huge globe feature light that gives the illusion. of a full moon.
