Forth 1 and Clyde 1 have seen listener numbers continue to grow with an increase in the number of people tuning into their trusted radio station, according to the latest RAJAR figures.*
The first RAJAR figures since March 2020, underlines the importance of radio with strong growth across Bauer’s Scottish stations. Clyde 1 has added 33,000 more listeners and now reaches 618,000 every week, whilst Forth 1 has on average 322,000 people tuning in – an increase of 26,000.
‘Bowie at Breakfast’ remains Glasgow and the West’s favourite way to wake up. The number one breakfast show continues to grow its numbers with an incredible 344,000 listeners now tuning in on a weekly basis. That would fill our national stadium Hampden Park over 6 times!
On the East side of the country, ‘Boogie in the Morning’, also remains top of the charts as the number one show across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and Falkirk with a massive market share of 21.3%.
Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard also continues to go from strength to strength and the team scored its second highest audience share of all time with 31.4% of all radio listening between 6pm and 8pm Monday to Friday.
The new Drivetime show of Garry Spence and Steven Mill has also seen fantastic numbers, with 626,000 listening to the duo every week.**
Victoria Easton-Riley, Content Director for Scotland, said: “COVID had – and continues to have – a significant impact on all our lives and the importance of radio was highlighted during this challenging time with our listener numbers significantly increasingly.
“Our stations provided a valuable form of company and support as well as a connection with the outside world for many people. Radio continues to be the go-to for a friendly and familiar voice and for trusted news and entertainment and we are immensely proud to see more people tuning in during these difficult times.
“These strong listener numbers reflect the hard work of our team with market leading breakfast shows and massive competitions like Cash Register which changes lives every week. We also have a very strong music offering combining the biggest hits, fantastic throwbacks as well as interviews with the world’s biggest music stars and celebrities like Ed Sheeran, Adele and P!nk which really resonates with our listeners.”
