The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland has announced the return of Edinburgh Zoo’s After Hours events this summer, following its reopening to the public last week.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland has announced the return of Edinburgh Zoo’s After Hours events this summer, following its reopening to the public last week.

Staff at the wildlife conservation charity are encouraging visitors to come along to explore the zoo at night while also supporting critical fundraising efforts to care for endangered animals around the world.

As well as outdoor catering, including bars and a BBQ, there will be a digital trail around the zoo and the chance to see how the lions, penguins and pandas spend their evenings.

Jonathan Brown, events and experiences manager at Edinburgh Zoo said: “It is really exciting to bring our After Hours events back this summer with some added safety measures to make sure our visitors, staff and animals are as safe as possible.

“This could be one of the most unique nights out in Edinburgh. Lots of our animals are very active in the evening and guests can take part in a digital trail to learn more about them while enjoying our outdoor catering and drink stands.

“Every ticket will help to care for the animals in the zoo and protect wildlife in Scotland and around the world.”

Edinburgh Zoo reopened to the public on Monday 29 June but limits on visitor numbers during the day will reduce the charity’s income over the vital summer months. RZSS still faces repaying millions of pounds in loans due to the three-month closure of its parks.

Jonathan added, “We would like to thank everyone for their incredible support so far and look forward to welcoming more people back for our special evening events.”

Edinburgh Zoo After Hours will run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 24 July – 2 August. Tickets cost £17.50 for adults, £9.50 for children (Saturdays and Sundays only).

RZSS members get an exclusive discount as well as two additional members nights where they can book free entry.
