SCOTMID TEAMS UP WITH CHARITY’S COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS TO DELIVER SHOPPING TO MOST VULNERABLE
The local Scotmid store in Kirkliston is working in partnership with their charity of the year, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, to provide their Customer Support Service, a free home delivery service to support those who are vulnerable and shielding in their homes right now.
People in the local area who are unable to leave their homes to get their shopping can phone Scotmid Kirkliston on 0131 333 3208 and complete their weekly shopping order over the phone.
Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s Kindness Volunteers will be working with the team at Scotmid to get the shopping safely delivered to people’s doorsteps.
The charity’s team of 5,000 Kindness Volunteers have been helping people across Scotland who are feeling isolated and alone through weekly phone calls, shopping and medication deliveries and dog walking.
Jane-Claire Judson, Chief Executive at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, said:
“It is fantastic to be working with our charity partner, Scotmid to reach people in Kirkliston who really need our help during this difficult time.
“Our Kindness Volunteers have been working extremely hard across Scotland to make sure that no one is fighting coronavirus alone and it is just fantastic that we are able to support Scotmid in providing their home delivery service.
“We have been working with Scotmid over the last year to make sure that people in our Scottish communities survive and thrive and it is so important now, more than ever, to join together and do everything we can to help people stay safe and well at home.”
Lynne Ogg, North Communities Manager at Scotmid, said:
“Scotmid’s core purpose is to serve our communities and to improve people's everyday lives – the Customer Support Service allows us to better serve those in our community who are at risk and unable to come to store to purchase essentials.
Delivering this project with the support of our charity of the year is very special to us; a true partnership when our communities need it most."
If you, or someone you know, could benefit from Scotmid’s Customer Support Service, their free home delivery service, contact the Scotmid Kirkliston (1-7 Station Road, EH29 9BE) on 0131 333 3208 to place your order.
