Contini delivers new restaurant at home experience for Edinburgh foodies
Contini George Street has launched a new way for Edinburgh foodies to enjoy restaurant cooking in the safety of their own home.
Running five days a week from Tuesday 5th May, the ‘Contini at Home’ service includes delivery and a call and collect service.
The ‘From Our Kitchen’ range offers three course meals for £20 per person that will have you feeling like you’re dining out. This choice of three fridge-ready set menus are available for you to reheat and enjoy at home. A la carte dishes and side dishes are available individually.
Menus include Mozzarella di Bufala direct from Contini’s supplier in Campagnia, Scottish free-range chicken Milanese with Amalfi lemon, roasted almonds, new potatoes and gremolata, as well as a delicious tiramisu for dessert. All three course menus come with complimentary homemade Contini focaccia and a sundried tomato salsa.
The ‘Contini at Home’ a la carte menu includes Italian classics like homemade gnocchi alla sorrentina, polpette, arancini, torta cioccolato and cheese plates.
All dishes are delivered in 100% compostable containers made by Edinburgh’s Vegware, with instructions for people to serve or reheat at home. The food will be prepared daily, packed at 3pm and delivered to peoples’ doors from 5pm, five nights a week.
Freshly prepared fridge-ready pasta sauces including Bolognese, Olivia and Contadino are served with a 500g bag of Italian dried pasta for people to cook at home so it can be enjoyed fresh, al dente and in true Italian style.
The ‘For Your Larder’ online shop includes fresh Italian vegetable and fruit bags direct from Contini’s grower in Puglia via the famous food market in Milan. The supply chain in Italy is back up and running and Contini’s is choosing to support friends in Italy as much as supporting its favourite Scottish suppliers.
Other items from the ‘For Your Larder’ online shop include Contini coffee beans, Phantassie Farm organic free-range eggs, butter, milk and bread packs. Errington’s cheeses, Isle of Mull Cheddar, Victor Contini’s favourite wines, craft beers and Bon Accord soft drinks.
Owned and operated by Victor and Carina Contini, the award-winning Contini George Street opened its doors 16 years ago. From day one, it has delivered fresh, seasonal and authentic Italian cooking.
Carina Contini, owner of Contini George Street, said: “The last few months have been the most challenging in all our lives and we’ve really considered how we can deliver our quality restaurant experience to our lovely customers in their homes.
“We hope ‘Contini at Home’ will meet and exceed our customer dining and cooking needs. We’re offering our authentic flavours at great value prices that we very much hope you will enjoy. The team are excited and thrilled to be back cooking and I’ll be joining them in the kitchen, just like old times.”
As third generation Italian Scots, Victor and Carina Contini continue to champion independent family businesses in Scotland and with the market in Italy reopening, it’s bringing the flavours of Italy that we can’t source in Scotland, like Burrata, camone tomatoes and Parmigiano Reggiano. Favourite Scottish suppliers like Errington’s, Isle of Mull Cheese, Phantassie Farm, Campbell Prime Meats, and Crombie’s of Edinburgh also feature on the menu.
Home deliveries are available Tuesday to Saturday. Place orders by 9pm for delivery the following day. Deliveries will be made within a five-mile radius of George Street and will include a £5 delivery charge per order.
For the ‘telephone & collect service’, customers are advised to place orders by 9pm for collection from 103 George Street between 3pm and 5pm the following day.
All orders must be made using the recommended online pre-payment facility only or by sharing details over the phone for telephone orders.
