Zen Escapes pop up in Edinburgh

The city of Edinburgh is encouraging locals to take a moment to escape the buzz of the capital in one of three enchanting lighting activations that have taken over the city. Launching today (8 February), Edinburgh Lumen will provide tranquil portals that take visitors from the fast-paced streets of the city into captivating light creations set against calming music.

To celebrate the turning on of the lights, dancers from Edinburgh got together to perform a mesmerising contemporary routine within Ocean of Light - one of the city’s three zen-zones. Dancing within the immersive lighting experience that sits proudly on the Mound Precinct, the girls got the first experience of the show-stopping installation that stands five meters tall, complete with 12,000 individually suspended lights.

Other tranquil spots include Serenity Garden on St Andrew Square which offers a peaceful haven with bespoke lighting and chill-out music, and Moments Lane at the west lane of the Assembly Rooms which will display three serene animated scenes from the Aurora Borealis to a deep-sea experience projected onto the walls.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the enchanting Edinburgh Lumen experience every evening from 5pm to 10:30pm until the 11 March 2018.

Edinburgh Lumen has been developed by NL Productions for the City of Edinburgh Council to provide locals and visitors with a unique free experience that will light up the normally dark winter nights.
