The family-friendly event, supported by Event Scotland, will be the first of its kind hosted by Loch Lomond Shores. Visitors on both days will be able to enjoy Scottish food and drink, music and dance. There will be a fireworks display at 6pm on the Saturday evening, storytelling on Saturday afternoon and a free ceilidh from 6-8pm on the Saturday and 4-6pm on the Sunday.
The event will be free to attend, with most of the entertainment free of charge, and with giveaways of flags and sweet treats for kids.
Other, paid, activity includes face painting, balloons and fun fair rides, the weekend and Christmas markets, Santa’s grotto, TreeZone, SEA LIFE, Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre, as well as Scottish food and drink producers and vendors including Edinburgh Gin, National Park Venison, Linburn Aberdeen Angus and Loch Lomond Brewery.
Other organisations taking part will be Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, Cameron House, Erskine House, and Maid of the Loch.
Over the weekend, anyone called Andrew or Andrea will also be able to pick up discounted or free entry to destinations and activities including the Bird of Prey Centre, SEA LIFE Loch Lomond, Sweeney’s Cruise Co and Loch Lomond Leisure.
Loch Lomond Shores manager, Audrey Reid said, “We’re very excited about celebrating St Andrew’s Day this weekend. St Patrick’s Day has become a bit of an institution – and we can’t see why we shouldn’t make more of our own national day.
“We’ll have Scottish food and drink, bands, pipers and a free ceilidh. There’s fireworks on the Saturday evening, and storytelling for children. There’s something for everyone, so we can each celebrate what Scotland means for us. And where better to celebrate St Andrew’s Day than in the iconic Scottish location of Loch Lomond?
“We’re very grateful to the support of EventScotland, which has enabled us to host our first St Andrew’s weekend.”
Finally, Loch Lomond Shores is aware that on big event days, the car parks can take some time to empty if there’s a large volume of traffic. Organisers would like to thank drivers in advance for their patience, and invite anyone who can to use public transport.
