In this course, you'll learn the fundamental basics of blacksmithing in a supportive and engaging environment. You’ll begin with a quick hands-on exercise designed to introduce you to key techniques, followed by an intriguing overview of metallurgy and the fascinating history behind hot forging. Throughout the day, you’ll have full control of the fire and work directly at the anvil, allowing you to gain practical experience before starting to forge your very own knife.
The course starts at 10am, includes a 1-hour lunch break, and ends before 4pm. There is no rush and you can take your time enjoying the Pitt street food market. You keep all your work and learn how to finish and care for your projects. Classes are small, with up to five people per session. This is a practical experience, so be prepared to get your hands dirty. However there is nothing to worry about and an expert blacksmith will be there to guide you every step of the way.
Additional Dates: 27 February 2026, 06 March 2026, 27 March 2026
