During this St Nikolaus day event we'll forage wild spices and fungi and decorate little gingerbread houses baked from an ancient recipe.
During our St Nikolas forage we’ll explore the flora and funga of the beautiful Cammo Estate to the west of the City. We’ll amble through woodland, parkland, fields, and meadows, and look at and taste some of the most delicious wild flavours of our Scottish winter time. We’ll discuss identification features, responsible foraging practices, preparation suggestions, and, of course, similar looking toxic and inedible species. We will in particular focus our wonderrful, forgotten native spices to add a wild twist to your holiday baking (and drinking). Then, we will decorate adorable little gingerbread cottages, made from a wild spiced del;icious medieval Lebkuchen recepie while enjoying a hot cup of wild spiced apple juice or mulled wine and nibbling some foraged treats.
This foraging event is suitable for all ages and skill levels and will include samples of food and beverages brimming with foraged flavours.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
