In Kyrgyzstan snow leopards are making a comeback. Follow Dan as he leads an extreme conservation mission through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia, exploring snow leopard behavioural and spatial ecology using video camera traps. In 2023 Dan was appointed the Snow Leopard Trust’s first ever Explorer in Residence, devoted to protecting this enigmatic cat and its mountain habitats. This role presented him with the opportunity to work with local communities and field teams to support conservation in the high mountains of Central Asia. Dan O’Neill is an experienced field biologist, wildlife filmmaker, explorer and presenter who specialises in remote and challenging environments and camera trap technology.
Location: 40 George Square, Lecture Theatre C, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, EH8 9JX.
