Hand Embroidery – Stitched Garden. A Beginners' Workshop with Artisan Stitch
Join Scotland’s leading sewing school for a joyful hand embroidery workshop for beginners. Learn six essential stitches and create a stitched garden with guidance from a master embroiderer from Iran.
About the Hand Embroidery Workshop for Beginners:
Discover the peaceful rhythm of hand embroidery as you stitch a blooming garden full of colour and texture. This beginner-friendly workshop celebrates creativity, mindfulness, and cultural artistry. Our guest tutor—a master embroiderer from Iran—blends traditional Persian techniques with a fresh, contemporary style. She will guide you at every step.
Artisan Stitch, Scotland’s award-winning sewing school, proudly hosts this inspiring session. We’re known for our warm teaching style, accessible classes, and nationally recognised excellence. Whether you’re completely new to needlework or simply want to refresh your skills, you’ll feel right at home in our welcoming studio.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn six essential embroidery stitches and apply them to a floral garden design. You’ll gain confidence, meet like-minded creatives, and enjoy plenty of encouragement along the way.
What You’ll Learn in the Stitched Garden Embroidery Class:
By the end of the session, you’ll be able to:
Transfer a design to fabric with ease
Use six foundational embroidery stitches (including stem stitch, lazy daisy, satin stitch, French knots, straight stitch, and fly stitch)
Choose the right threads, needles, and hoops for your project
Build texture and dimension in your embroidery
Know how to finish and display your stitched garden with pride
Depending on your pace, you may not complete your stitched garden during the studio session—but you’ll leave with all the skills, materials, and guidance needed to finish it beautifully at home.
Who Should Join This Hand Embroidery Workshop for Beginners:
This workshop is ideal for absolute beginners and anyone who wants to reconnect with the joy of slow stitching. You don’t need any experience—just a love of colour and a curious spirit.
Meet the Tutor:
Our guest tutor Sholeh is a highly skilled embroiderer from Iran. Her floral compositions are rich in detail and rooted in traditional Persian needlework. With years of teaching experience, she brings warmth, precision, and cultural depth to every class. Her passion for embroidery shines through, making this a truly special opportunity to learn from a global textile artist.
