Dr Maryam Ohadi-Hamadani draws on her recent research exploring Black Power and anticolonial solidarity movements and their connections to art, film, independent publishing, and media in 1960s–70s Britain and the Caribbean. This talk traces some of the many networks of Black artists and activists extending across the UK into Scotland and beyond, and showcases examples of work by artists such as sculptor Donald Locke (Guyana), filmmaker Horace Ové (Trinidad), and writer Kamau Brathwaite (Barbados).
