★★★★ “Cemented by Efira’s restrained, empathetic performance, Paris Memories is a deft exploration of recovery” Little White Lies
“It’s a sensitive, careful film with real emotional intelligence, no less gripping for avoiding dramatic fireworks in favour of more observational moments.” Time Out
Three months after a terrorist attack in a bistro in Paris, Mia (Virginie Efira) is struggling to come to terms with what she experienced. Due to her trauma, she is unable to remember what happened. When she returns to the city, she feels compelled to retrace her steps, speaking to others who were also in the bistro that night in the hope of finding the stranger who held her hand and offered reassurance.
Paris Memories earned Virginie Efira the César for Best Actress in 2023, and the film was awarded the 2023 Alice Guy Prize for Best Female-Directed French or Francophone Film.
