FISH, a new solo clowning show from NYC-born Funmi Adejobi, embarks on a whimsical yet poignant journey through the challenges of modern life.
About FISH
Using a blend of physical comedy, storytelling, and audience interaction, FISH delves into themes of climate change, societal issues, personal relationships, and the pursuit of joy in the face of adversity.
Inspired by Adejobi’s desire to create a show that interrogated her daily concerns, from worries about the environmental crisis, and homelessness in her neighbourhood to personal reflections on her job, family and relationships. The narrative follows Fish, who dreams of being human, but to succeed must learn how to walk, talk and the most human thing of all: struggle with the crushing weight of existential worry. Over the course of the show, Adejobi, as Fish, is thrust out of a humdrum life in her aquarium and into the “real” world, with non-stop wit and physical comedy throughout. Directed and co-devised by Chris Manley, FISH is ultimately a show about how to find meaning, purpose, and community in a strange and dark moment in human history.
