The premise of Pint and a Spooky Thing is simple: go for a drink, and then explore one of Edinburgh's many spooky locales.
This time we'll be meeting in the function room of the Parkside Bowling Club to share some stories about strange, surreal and spooky things that have happened on and around nearby Arthur's Seat.
Location: Parkside Bowling Club, 16 Holyrood Park Road, Edinburgh EH16 5BG
After this informative intro, we'll take a slightly spooky walk in view of the Seat. Why only slightly spooky? Well, it's summer and the days are long: we're likely to be taking our walk in the evening sunshine. Nonetheless, we expect it to be an atmospheric stroll.
Some sights we'll encounter on the way include: spectacular views of an extinct volcano; a long-forgotten tunnel under the Seat; the abandoned hive-like Scottish Widows building; a serene loch where a hoard of Bronze Age weapons were discovered; and a 700-year-old public house.
We'll end up at one of the oldest pubs in Edinburgh, The Sheep Heid Inn... where we'll enjoy a few games of skittles in their historic bowling alley - along with a few more drinks. At the end of the evening you can head home directly from the Sheep Heid, or join us for a walk back along the same route (this time in the dark!)
This is a relaxed, social event organised by the International Ghost Society - an Edinburgh-based creative studio that loves all things spooky and immersive.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
