Two dates available - 21st & 22nd August
Learn all about cut flowers at our Green Skills Centre on Wednesday 20 August and Thursday 21 August from 1:45pm to 4pm. Using our organically grown flowers you’ll tap into your creativity to create a stunning bouquet to take home with you.
With the summer season now underway and colourful flowers blooming, why not learn how to make a wonderful bouquet to brighten up your home or give as a gift to a loved one?
Our horticulturist will give an introduction into our cut flower patch before handing you over to our local florist ‘Flowers by Isla’.
Using seasonal sustainable cut flowers from our very own farm, Isla will teach you in this beginner friendly workshop how to condition your flowers for longevity, look at colour & texture matches and assist you with building your bouquet. As well as learning the best techniques and methods to cutting flowers.
“It was lovely to cut your own flowers from a fabulous range of flowers grown on the farm. We then were shown how to arrange them and given great tips on how to make the arrangements last, then best of all we got to take them home. We were also treated to homemade scones and jam which were delicious. Wonderful afternoon overall.“ - Previous Workshop Attendee
Everything needed to take part in the workshop will be provided to you, with scones and refreshments included. As a result of our small class size, our host is able to provide one-to-one support to attendees and build confidence in their florist skills in a supportive environment.
Please note: we have bee hives close to the flower patch, any allergies and dietary requirements should be reported to the coordinator in the first instance. The event is suitable for those aged 16 and up.
About our events
Through booking a place on the class, you directly support the work we do with tackling the causes and consequences of homelessness.
Our Green Skills Centre is an outdoor learning environment for young people currently unsupported by the mainstream education system and traditional career pathways. Through building connections to the natural environment, and encouraging connections to the wider community we offer young people the space to grow, and find their own path forwards.
Location
This event will be taking place at our Farm in Kirknewton, a short walk from the Military Museum and Jupiter Artland. Accessible through Lothian Buses via Wilkieston. Parking is available on the Farm.
