(whalesong), at BrewDog DogHouse, is a sound play about the noises and voices in the oceans, created and performed by award-winning sound artist and technologist Xavier Velastín.
About (whalesong)
It is a love song to cetaceans (toothed and baleen) with a little whale balloon and a gargle-along theme song. Xavier presents stories, mythologies and fantasies about the sea and our aquatic cousins using an array of DIY soundmaking tools, including underwater microphones, hacked game controllers and motion trackers.
[whalesong] is a celebration of the diversity of the voices in the sea, and a challenge to humanity’s desire to control and own them. It’s a subversive, submersive theatrical sound bath that hates plastic and loves blowholes. So, blubber up – the ocean’s calling.
