Neurodivergent Wellbeing and Skills Development Service to host Open Evening for school leavers to help families find a ‘Future that Fits’
The event, on Thursday 19 June at 5-7pm, will be held at The Gate Linlithgow campus, run by The Donaldson Trust, the National Body for Neurodiversity.
Gate, a specialist, neuro-inclusive transitions service, is designed to help neurodivergent young people aged 16+ to find their place in the world, by supporting them to build confidence, explore possibilities, and move toward positive futures.
Families, schools’ transitions teams and social workers are invited to the open evening, which will offer them a chance to tour the Gate service and find out more about the courses on offer, life skills development, and opportunities to explore, in education, training, volunteering, and employment.
Alison French, Adult Services Lead at The Donaldson Trust, said, “The transition from school to adult life can be one of the most uncertain and emotionally challenging times for neurodivergent young people and their families. We understand this stage can be overwhelming, with many parents asking, ‘What happens next?”
“Our goal at Gate is to support young adults to build a future for themselves at their own pace, in a calm, structured, and inclusive environment where they feel safe, valued, and empowered to take their next steps. Our support is focused on building confidence and wellbeing, developing positive relationships, and helping individuals to plan their future around their strengths and goals.”
Whether you're a neurodivergent young adult seeking independence, a parent or carer worried about the next step, or are part of a transitions planning team looking for future options, come along to the Gate Open Evening on Thursday 19 June, between 5-7pm, to find out how Gate support builds futures that fit.
Register for the Open Evening, on Thursday 19 June, at The Donaldson Trust Website: www.donaldsons.org.uk/events/gate-open-evening
