Edinburgh Fringe's Premier Classical Music Event Returns After Five-Star Acclaim
The distinguished Moonlight Concerts series proudly returns to the Edinburgh Fringe 2025, presenting virtuoso pianist Matthew Shiel in a sophisticated program of Beethoven's most technically demanding and emotionally profound compositions. Following an unanimously acclaimed and sold-out 2024 season, this exceptional recital showcases the pinnacle of classical piano repertoire.

Matthew Shiel, recognized as an Usher Hall emerging artist, brings extraordinary technical precision and profound musical insight to this carefully curated program. The recital features the revolutionary "Waldstein" Sonata, the immortal "Moonlight" Sonata, and Liszt's magnificent transcription of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony—works that define the classical canon and showcase Beethoven's unparalleled genius.
The program concludes with a fascinating exploration of Beethoven's Scottish compositions, revealing the composer's surprising connection to Highland musical traditions.
