One of the most talked-about shows to hit the festivals last year is making its way to ours this summer with “Guns. Lots of guns” (well, fake ones of course), elaborate fight choreography, death-defying stunts, and a plot device called “undeveloped dead wife character.”
We are transported onto the set of John Wick Chapter 5: E Pluribus Unum where Keanu needs the audience’s help to recreate all the hallmarks of this billion-dollar franchise. Woody Fu: One-Man John Wick goes deeper into Keanu’s psychology. How do we reconcile the contradiction that he is the Nicest Guy in Hollywood, but that his movies are insanely violent? Where does his tireless work ethic come from? What are his demons, and why is Woody the one exorcising them?
With a stateside tour including Austin, Chicago and Toronto, this show sold out at both last year’s Hollywood Fringe and this year’s SF Sketchfest, with extra dates added due to demand.
Location: Assembly, The Crate, Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh. EH8 9LN
Woody is an alumnus of the internationally renowned comedy theatre Boom Chicago in Amsterdam, which has helped launch such careers as Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele and Jason Sudeikis, and he has gone on to become one of LA’s hardest working actors, appearing in numerous TV series and movies including The Other Two (Max), Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens (Comedy Central), Spirited [alongside Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell] (Apple TV+), Life And Beth (Hulu), Lucky Grandma, Companion (New Line Cinema), No Good Deed (Netflix), For Life (ABC) and Pose (FX).
