'Recitals at St Mary's' is a series of lunchtime recitals on the last Sunday of each month, at St Mary's Cathedral. Today's recital is given by Andy Wong and Pawel Szulc, pupils at The City of Edinburgh Music School.

Andy Wong started playing piano at the age of five. He entered The City of Edinburgh Music School when he was eight years old. After that, he started his music journey with piano teacher Gillian Gray and also began cello lessons. At school he passed all his piano exams with distinction including diploma ARSM in which he achieved 47/50. Andy also enjoys playing piano accompaniment for the school choir and organ. He won the James Waterhouse Piano Competition Foundation class in 2018 and also several Edinburgh Competition Festival piano first prizes. He has performed several times at the Edinburgh Society of Musicians. Andy has been awarded places in several conservatoires and a scholarship to the RCS.
Pawel Szulc is a 17 year old piano student studying with Naomi Kayayan at The City of Edinburgh Music School. Pawel has recently been awarded places to further his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with an RCS trust scholarship. A prize winner in a number of festival competitions, including the piano final of the Fife Young Musician of the Year (2023), Pawel will be giving his concerto debut with a performance of Haydn’s D Major Piano Concerto with the Peebles Orchestra later this spring.
