Psychedelics are having a big moment, with a research renaissance exploring their effects and potential in full swing. Taking centre stage is psilocybin, the active compound in magic mushrooms, which have long been used by indigenous communities for purposes of divination and healing.
In this interesting talk, you will learn about how psilocybin imparts its powerful effects on the human psyche. You will also hear how it might treat depression, addiction and other mental health conditions, and potentially lead to the betterment of well people?

Dr Wahba is a consultant Psychiatrist with over a decade of experience in the field and is currently leading the mood disorder research clinic in Newcastle. He is Interested in the synergy between biological and psychological interventions in the treatment of mood and trauma related disorders, with a special focus on psychedelic therapy and all it has to offer. He is believer in the importance of awareness for societal mental health, with a passion for public engagement.
