About EMGO at St Columba’s By The Castle
The Edinburgh Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra (EMGO) was established in 2008 by an enthusiastic group of amateur musicians who wanted to create opportunities to play together and promote awareness of some of Scotland's older folk instruments that are still played today.
Our instruments are from the plucked string family – mainly (but not exclusively) mandolins, mandolas and guitars – and our repertoire is drawn from a wide range of musical genres.
Come along to hear us on Saturday the 23rd, where we will entertain you with a mix of Spanish repertoire (including pieces from Carmen), and some Scottish folk pieces, and a little light music.
