An opportunity to play chamber music in a relaxed and friendly group. Open to all string and woodwind players (over 18yrs old), of at least Grade 4 standard with reasonable sight reading skills. The are no auditions and we won't ask to see your certificates! Music for each week will be announced in advance to allow players to download and print their own parts.
Chamber orchestra sessions take place in the Portobello Baptist Church, Portobello every Sunday, between 2:00 and 4:00pm. Some Sundays may be used to host smaller groups of strings, woodwind or mixed ensembles to explore more advanced music on a one-per-part basis.
Join the group on Meetup.com (see website above). To be able to take part in a session you must respond to the Event Notice by Friday 12:00pm. Attendees will be sent a list of music to allow them to print it and try it out. As far as possible the selected pieces will match the instruments expected at each session. It will not be possible to turn up without having replied and received the list of music to print.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
