About Soundhouse: Nicole Smit Quintet
Singer Nicole Smit has been wowing Scottish audiences with her uplifting and inspirational performances drenched in the history of the blues since arriving on these shores from Sweden almost a decade ago.
Now she turns to the jazzier side with music inspired by Dinah Washington, Etta Jones, Eartha Kitt and Billie Holiday – singers with jazz techniques but also cool, bluesy-textured voices.
Nicole’s eponymous quintet is completed by drummer Vid Gobac, Cameron Bradley on upright, Dave Toule on guitar and Kassandra E'Silva on sax.
The Traverse Theatre is funded by Creative Scotland and The City of Edinburgh Council.
