In 2017, Tim Morrison opened The Clydeside Distillery, fulfilling his ambition to revive distilling Single Malt Whisky once more in Glasgow. With over a century of whisky making in his family history, it seems fitting that Tim is now bringing whisky distilling back to the old Queens Dock in the city. Their two core expressions are rooted in this history:
Stobcross is named after a historic cross which once marked the route to Dumbarton Rock that later became the site of the Anderson family’s former home and eventually the site of the Queen’s Dock, now home to Clydeside distillery! It’s fresh, floral notes and slight tropical sweetness melts into a palate of orchard fruits with hints of white pepper.
Napier is named for Robert Napier is regarded as the 'Father of Clyde Shipbuilding'. With a reputation for innovation and invention, his shipyard sat just across the water from the distillery. Napier's mantra of 'quality, quality, quality' is at the heart of The Clydeside Distillery, so they're understandably proud to apply his name to this characterful Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. It opens with notes of ripe berry, sweet rose and tropical tones, moving in to a palate of orange marmalade, cherry and vanilla, and finishing with warming clove and ginger. It’s the perfect Autumn malt!
