Jargon Busting: What does AI mean to you?

About Jargon Busting: What does AI mean to you?

After a successful series of events on AI & Social Innovation, exploring all kinds of themes around the AI trend from ethics to very practical applications for social innovators, we're bringing a bonus, final event where we'll answer questions, sum up our collective learnings from the series, and demystify all wordy tech vocabulary.

Facilitated by the Scottish AI Alliance, insights from this event will inform what events and training the Scottish AI Alliance will run in the next 12 – 24 months. We'll be joined by Prof. Shannon Vallor (Centre for Technomoral Futures/ Edinburgh Futures Institute).

No prior knowledge of artificial intelligence or new technologies is required!

What can you expect from this event?

Attendees can expect to explore the following questions:

How do we use AI in our everyday lives?
What scares us about AI and how can we overcome this?
What are our collective learnings from attending the AI and Social Innovation series of events?

Meaningful connections with like-minded people

Coffee & tea and nibbles!

Who are the Scottish AI Alliance?

The Scottish AI Alliance is tasked with the delivery of the vision outlined in Scotland’s AI Strategy by empowering Scotland's people, supporting Scotland's businesses and organisations, and influencing policy impacting Scotland. The Scottish AI Alliance is a strategic collaboration between The Data Lab and the Scottish Government. It is led by a Minister-appointed Chair and overseen by Senior Responsible Officers from The Data Lab (CEO) and the Scottish Government (CDO). Its activities are overseen and advised by governance and outcomes focussed advisory groups with representation across society and Scotland’s AI community.

Why do Breeze Digital feel it is important to consider the role of AI in social impact?

We help charities, voluntary organisations and community groups embrace technology to help them work smarter. We offer tailored advice, and support with a wide range of digital projects, including research and the implementation of solutions. Our mission is to support the transition towards a digitally-proficient third sector. This includes facilitating learning around AI, and its role in Social Impact. What real life problems can it solve? What difference is it likely to make to all our lives, for better or worse? What preparation can organisations do to be ready to utilise AI safely and ethically?
