London-based Elkka is an artist who began her path as a singer-songwriter and has evolved into a multi-faceted producer, DJ and label boss.
Sitting firmly in a lane of her own creation, Elkka’s music is a cross-pollination between house, electronica, percussive beats and dreamy vocals. When performing, she immerses herself in her art - from expansive, high-energy DJ sets to her encapsulating live show.
Deciding to take full artistic control over her music, Elkka made the shift from singer / songwriter to producer and artist, at the same time she founded her record label, femme culture. In addition to acting as home for her own music, the London-based record label and collective was born out of the desire to champion women in the arts and push forward-thinking music standing for inclusivity amongst all genders, backgrounds and beliefs, and actively promotes collaboration in all fields. The label’s annual HeForShe compilation in aid of U.N. Women has garnered critical success and featured the likes of Octo Octa, Anz, and DJ Python.
After a sensational 12 months that saw Elkka awarded BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of the Year, Radio 1 Introducing Artist Of The Year, AIM Independent Remix of the Year and nominated for, Breakthrough Producer of The Year in the DJ Mag Awards and included two Ninja Tune EPs, a Resident Advisor Podcast, remixes for Kelly Lee Owens, Sigrid, and Ela Minus, and performances at Field Day, We Out Here, Lost Village, Printworks, and Motion, Elkka rounded out 2021 supporting Caribou on his UK tour and dropping her “Harmonic Frequencies” EP, described by RA as “Chicken Soup for the Raver’s Soul”.
Elkka’s momentum continues to propel her to new heights - aptly fuelled by a silo of authentically danceable music; to date, her work has been supported by Four Tet, Floating Points, Caribou, Jon Hopkins, SHERELLE, Annie Mac, Pete Tong and many many more.
