Anti-racism in the Lothians explores the historical and contemporary battles against racism across Edinburgh and the Lothians—in the workplace and in the community. From the work of Alfred Labinjohs in the '80s, through the Lothian Black Forum, to the campaign for justice for Sheku Bayou, activists and academics at the forefront of the struggle share stories and discuss how we combat racism in our communities and workplaces.
Speakers include:
Layla-Roxanne Hill, activist, academic and author of Black Oot Here: Black Lives in Scotland
Henry Dee, history at Glasgow University
Martin Cavanagh, President of PCS
A Unison Lothian Health Branch activist at the frontline of the fight against racism in the workplace.
The event is part of The Morning Star’s Our Class Our Culture series, exploring working class history and culture to inform and embolden today’s struggles.
All proceeds go to The Morning Star’s fighting fund to support the only English-language daily newspaper fighting for peace and socialism.
