This three-week course on Chinese birds and flowers painting is suitable for both beginners and advanced students. Held at the Confucius Institute campus in Edinburgh, the course delves into the rich tradition of Chinese brush painting, specifically focusing on birds and flowers, which have adorned various mediums from pottery to screens throughout history.
Participants will explore common techniques associated with Chinese soft brushes and ink, under the guidance of an experienced tutor. They'll have the opportunity to select subjects like orioles, magpies, and Chinese orchids for their artworks. The course emphasizes the unique coordination of mind and body required in Chinese brush painting, making it both a mental and physical exercise. Topics covered include brush handling techniques and painting various subjects, including tigers. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this course offers a comprehensive exploration of a revered art form.
