About Tales from the Towpath

Explore the history of the Union Canal on board the Lochrin Belle, the big purple barge moored at Fountainbridge Canal Basin.

Citadel Arts Group's 5-star show, Tales from the Towpath takes audiences along to Harrison Park and back in an hour 15 minutes entertaining them on the way with five shorts plays.

Discover how the the body of the Scott Monument architect George Kemp came to be in canal; share the frustrations of the canal's engineer and his long-suffering wife; experience the dangers of digging the canal with a Highland and an Irish navvy; be shocked by health and safety at the old Rubber Mill beside the canal.

A versatile cast of four brilliant Scottish actors bring emotional depth to history.
