For Leonard Bernstein, heart and soul were never far apart, and when he was asked to write for an English cathedral, he brought all the energy, melody and showmanship that you’d expect from the composer of West Side Story. His Chichester Psalms are a burst of joy and light at the end of this concert: an American-inspired celebration of the power of choral singing, performed by the RSNO Chorus and its Director, Stephen Doughty, in an atmospheric setting.
