There are four sessions over eight weeks (i.e. one per fortnight) - Season One, Landscapes
A series of four classes, fortnightly starting on Wednesday April 10th or Saturday April 13th with Edinburgh artist ‘Craigo’ (Craig Seaton Bell SSA) that will introduce you to the essential techniques of oil painting.
Wednesday April 10th & 24, May 8th & 22nd 2pm – 4pm
or
Saturday April 13th & 27th, May 11th & 25th 10am - noon
Week 1
• Prime and prepare your canvas
• Perspective and vanishing point principles explained
• Tonal principles explained
• Prepare a tonal sketch
• Block in your sky and foreground
Week 2
• Add mid tones and detail
• The principles of Colour Perspective explained & demonstrated
• Colour mixing principles explained
Week 3
• Add foreground detail and highlights
• How to ‘suggest’ detail
• Impasto and stippling principles explained
Week 4
• Add scumble and tonal glazes
• Add final highlights and details
• ‘When to stop’
• Signing & Varnishing
The cost of the series is £180.00 which includes your canvas and all materials. Places are restricted to six at each class. Places awarded on a first come, first served basis. If we are oversubscribed, then a waiting list will be created and a second series of classes organised.
