We are delighted to host Andrew Mackenzie's solo exhibition, Between concrete and wood. Join us in the gallery for an informal artist talk, followed by a Q&A.
Between Concrete and Wood brings together new paintings and drawings focusing on two significant modernist buildings in the Scottish Borders; the resulting paintings celebrate the beauty of these structures and their subtle relationships with the landscape, while also offering a meditation on the legacies of modernism.
Showing alongside are a series of paintings displaying aspects of an area of clear-fell in much-loved woodland very near the artists’ home, partially felled by Storm Arwen and recently cleared and replanted. The paintings were made over a period of a year, through a long process of applying and removing paint.
The event is free however booking is essential.
The gallery will be open until 5pm to view the exhibition and to chat with the artist over a glass of fizz.
Guests are invited to propose a question for the talk when booking.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
