"Matthew Shiel shone" (ThisWeek Culture)
Tonight's Films: Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr. (1924) and A Trip to the Moon (1902)
Transport yourself back in time to the golden era of Hollywood and experience the magic of the silent screen as you watch timeless classic films unfold. During the silent era that existed from the mid-1890s to the late 1920s, a pianist, theater organist—or even, in larger cities, an orchestra—would play music to accompany the films. Tonight, in keeping with silent cinema traditions, Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr. (1924) and A Trip to the Moon (1902), widely regarded as the earliest example of the science fiction genre and as one of the most influential films in cinema history will be accompanied with live piano accompaniment from award-winning pianist and improviser Matthew Shiel.
This event is an unique opportunity to witness the genius of silent cinematography and relive the magic of silent cinema. Grab your friends and family, and join us for an unforgettable evening filled with laughter and entertainment!
Your ticket includes a complimentary drink and popcorn.
