Hetty Haxworth lives in rural Aberdeenshire, Scotland where the weather has a huge effect on the countryside. While on her daily walks, she is keenly aware of the constant colour changes on the landscape, where fields and stretches of water are lit up by shafts of bright light. On returning to her studio, she turns the memory of these 'compositions' into a collage or drawing and then eventually into a print. Many of her recent prints are inspired by reflections on a local lake. When the lake froze over, a small oval was kept from freezing by the birds who swam round and round in circles and this ever changing shape informed the smaller screenprints in this show.
Hetty has been printmaking for the last 25 years since leaving The Glasgow School of Art and has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad. Her work has been shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, The Scottish Society of Artists and selected touring shows to Ohio, Australia, LA, Denmark and Brussels.
