Open Book and the Liston Archive

About Open Book and the Liston Archive

Join Open Book participants for a whistle stop tour of the adventures of Henrietta Liston, wife of the second British ambassador to the newly-formed United States of America.

Listen to the words of writers from Open Book groups across Scotland who, in association with the National Library of Scotland, have created new work in response to the letters, diaries and ephemera of Henrietta Liston, including her recipe for ink and what was on Martha Washington's dinner menu. Follow Henrietta from Scotland to America at the time Washington was President and to Turkey during plague time. A poetry reading like no other!
