Our unique 'acoustic piano orchestra' performs unusual and rarely-heard piano repertoire by Rachmaninoff alongside Scottish folk music.
Orchestre á six mains is an innovative piano ensemble which celebrates the rarely performed music for one piano, six hands - in effect, three pianists at one piano, creating the impression of a 'piano-orchestra.'
It is a international collaboration between three alumni of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland: Nicole Bovago Jacobsson (primo), Matthew Shiel (secondo) and Ailsa Aitkenhead (trio).
Alongside their standard six hands repertoire, each pianist has personally chosen to contribute a favourite piano solo and piano duet piece to complete tonight's programme.
