Transformative Justice is a response to violence, harm and abuse that addresses the root cause of behaviour and what we need to change rather than responding with more violence, surveillance and repression. Safety and community mean different things to all of us. Everyone is welcome to join, no matter your previous interactions with Transformative Justice.
From 1pm, this drop-in cafe will feature a community lunch, discussion circles and activity tables focusing on some of the current issues facing society, understanding the prison industrial complex, and resisting the harmful effects of policing in our communities. We will also explore a transformative justice approach to tackling these issues, providing a safe space for open discussion and peer learning.
From 5pm we open the floor for an open-mic, readings from the Spit It Out Zine and a performance from Glasgow-based poet Hussein Mitha. Throughout the day, you can explore the upcoming Spit It Out autumn programme and get a first listen/copy of the Transformative Justice Podcast and Zine.
