This walking tour traces the footsteps of Edinburgh's illustrious music history - with live music from our resident 'Pied Piper' on fiddle!

Did you know that Frederic Chopin gave his last official piano recital in Edinburgh?

Or that Mendelssohn composed his Scottish Symphony during his stay in our Georgian New Town?

Did you know that the national anthem of Iceland was composed near Broughton Street?

or that Chopin's had an infamous love affair with an Edinburgh lassie!?

Join us on a gentle walking tour of Edinburgh's New Town as we explore Edinburgh's illustrious music history - from classical composers to the Scottish folk band 'The Corries.'

This is a unique and creative walking tour led by our passionate local historian Matthew Shiel and our talented resident 'Pied Piper,' Dr Jake Spence (PhD, University of Edinburgh) who will illustrate and accompany our journey with his enchanting fiddle playing - live!

Our tour begins and ends outside the Orchard bar and restaurant (1 Howard Place, Edinburgh EH3 5JP) and will include 30 minutes of gentle walking around the beautiful streets of Edinburgh's Georgian New Town - a UNESCO world heritage site. Following the tour, you will be given the opportunity to visit the Orchard bar for lunch (optional).
