Helen Money (Thrill Jockey) stands as one of the most unique and versatile cellists working today. Composer Alison Chesley uses the instrument to access and channel the extremities of human emotion, employing extensive sonic manipulation and an array of plucking and bowing techniques to summon an astonishing breadth and depth of sound. A prolific collaborator, Chesley is equally at home in both New Music and Metal circles. Past albums saw her collaborate with Jason Roeder (Sleep/Neurosis) and Rachel Grimes (Rachel’s), and she has toured extensively with Shellac, Russian Circles, Earth, Bob Mould and MONO.
Guest artists on the night will be classically trained composer and vocalist Rylan Gleave performing his atmospheric folk work "Lawn Crypt" and esoteric songstress Maud the moth with a fully acoustic short set.
“A Classical cellist turned Avant Metal virtuoso.” – Boston Phoenix
“Powerful, harrowing and liberating. Like the best metal music, it leaves an immediate, indelible impression.” – Dusted Magazine
“Helen Money has created a direct and emotionally stunning album which can flip between tenderness and fear, rage and serenity.
A perfect example of a universal story being told by a master of their craft..” – Louder Than War
