We’ll begin the day with a walk around The Heart community garden where we’ll take a moment to connect with ourselves and nature, guided by Yoga Teacher and Community Gardener Hayley Chandler. Together we’ll explore the botanicals on-site and forage some interesting shaped leaves before moving up to the Ink on Mesh Print Studio.
Over a cup of locally grown herbal tea with a healthy dollop of home-baking, I’ll introduce a range of fun and effective relief printing and stamp making techniques – an opportunity to play with leaves and ink to create a collection of eye-catching decorative papers and set of reusable botanical stamps.
After a break for lunch in the garden (weather dependant), I’ll share a number of bookbinding techniques that incorporate your leaf printed papers, including a Japanese stab twig book and a leather/pleather covered journal featuring a decorative exposed stitch, inspired by…you guessed it – leaves!
These make for great notebooks, sketchbooks and gratitude journals – there will be lots of opportunity to chat about how you might use your books after the workshop and set intentions for how to continue adding to them at home.
You’ll leave the workshop with a collection of botanical stamps, hand-printed decorative papers and a set of books – a botanical themed day combining craft and nature that has been designed to help you feel grounded, inspired and uplifted.
All materials and refreshments included but please bring a packed lunch.
No prior printing, bookbinding or yoga experience necessary – if you’re looking for some creative tlc, to make and create in the company of others (without judgement), this workshop is for you!
